Sad Day

Unfortunately I have sad news to report on First Lady. Her leg had gotten worse, with swelling increasing and obvious pain. She no longer could stand for any longer then it would take her to drink, and then would lay back down. It is clear her leg was not going to get better, she was in serious discomfort and we were concerned that infection would soon set in. The decision was made to euthanize her today. Unfortunately this does happen from time to time, just as people have to sometimes put their pets down, occasionally we have to do it on the farm. It is always with a heavy heart, but at least we know the animal will not suffer any longer.

I euthanized one of Dad’s calves once…and cried buckets. Sorry for you and for the loss of that calf. I always loved taking care of the calves- such sweet babies!
